Food Ingredients Latest Trends in Global and Local Scenario for Product Development


The Department of Food Science and Technology, GCWUF organized a One Day International Workshop entitled ???Food Ingredients Latest Trends in Global and Local Scenario for Product Development??? along with a Product Development Competition on 20th March, 2023. Prof. Dr. Aysha Sameen, Chairperson Department of Food Science and Technology inaugurated the session with her welcome address. The dignitaries on the stage were Prof. Dr. Zilli Huma Nazli, Pro-Vice Chancellor & Coordinator Science and Technology, GCWUF, Mr. Asif A. Malik, Registrar GCWUF , Ms. Rizwana Tanveer, Controller of Examinations, GCWUF, and Mr. Shahid Hafeez Khan, Resource Person Tate & Lyle, Application and Technical Support Manager, Pakistan, Iran & Dubai. Prof. Dr. Zilli Huma Nazli delivered the vote of thanks. Souvenirs were presented to the guests as a token of remembrance and appreciation certificates were distributed among faculty members. The key note speaker, Mr. Shahid Hafeez Khan talked about the role of Food Ingredients for value added products. He highlighted the significance of extraordinary food ingredients for production of healthier and delicious food and drink choices for communities. He shared his work experiences and shown the live demonstration for various equipments used for product development and quality control in dairy and beverage industries. Students actively participated during informative question answer session and rewarded with gifts. Regarding Product Development Competition, there were up to thirty (30) different food stalls comprising of products made from waste utilization of fruits and vegetables processing, innovative Bakery items as well as nutritious snacks. Prof. Dr. Zill-i-Huma Nazli and all the guests visited every stall, interacted with students and appreciated their efforts. Afterwards, honorable judges Prof. Dr. Saima Akram, Chairperson Department of Mathematics along with Dr. Madiha Ilyas, Head of Department Human Nutrition and Dietetics evaluated the products.
